There
are a few options you should consider when deciding to buy an ironing
board holder. |

| The first has to do with the way the holder will be mounted. You have the choice of a wall mounted holder, or an “over the door” mounting. The wall mounted design can be more secure, and gives you more choices when it comes to the placement of the holder. For ease of installation however, you can’t beat an over-the-wall model. The possible disadvantage in this case could be that you may not be able to fully close or open the door in question. If however you plan on using a door that always remains open, then it is a simple solution. No screws needed. Simply hook it on over the edge of the door, and you’re done. The other factor to consider is whether you want a ironing board holder that will only hang the board, or weather you would prefer a model that incorporates a basket in which you can store your iron itself, and other supplies such as a spray bottle or a can of starch. This definitely saves space. Do be careful however. If the iron is still hot, do not store it in the basket next to a pressurized can. Wait until the iron is completely cool. | ||
Important tips – Before you buy an ironing board holder:- Not all holders can accommodate Y-shaped ironing board legs. - Over-the-door models are not ideal for heavy boards. - Be sure that your ironing board does not automatically open if hung up on the wall. It must have a locking mechanism when folded. - If you intend on putting an iron that is still hot on it, make sure the holder is metal or has a heat-proof backing. - If your iron is especially thick or wide (as is the case with models that feature a retractable cord) make sure it will still fit in the holder. - Remember that the iron's cord takes up room in the holder. - Some combination board/iron holders can be attached to the wall as separate components. This gives you greater placement flexibility. |
